intimeは従来のホームオーディオにおけるサラウンド技術やライブハウスの臨場感に注目しました。人間は左右の耳に届く音のずれ(距離や音量、位相のずれなど)を認識することで音の方向を把握しているとされています。ゆえに擬似的なサラウンドを得るためには、イヤホンから出る直接音とわずかに遅延時間を持たせた反射音を重畳して放出し、人の耳に空間を感じさせることが必要であるという結論に至りました。\u003cbr\u003e\r\n 図2ではiReep01内部を通過する音の動きを示しました。イヤピースの根本から侵入した音の殆どは直接音として放音孔から放出されますが、そのうちの一部はイヤピース内部の反射空間に流入して反射して放音孔へ戻ります。この時の音の到達速度を図3に示しました。最初の直接音が到達してから次に反射音が到達するのがわかります。このわずかな遅延時間により、人間の耳は立体感を感じるようになります。\u003cbr\u003e\r\n
